Penn's co-ed modern rock/pop/indie a cappella group

about us

The Penny Loafers were founded in 1986 as a co-ed a cappella group at the University of Pennsylvania focusing on music from the '50s and '60s. Since then, the musical focus of the group has shifted towards modern rock and pop, though any given semester's setlist includes a few eclectic choices, from jazz to indie.

We have performed at many events around campus, including President Rodin's farewell, Freshman Convocation, and events for the Alumni Association and Office of Admissions, Family Weekend, as well as shows sponsored by Penn advocacy groups and local charities.

Around Philadelphia, we perform locally at a cappella festivals, Center City's First Fridays, and holiday parties, and outside the city we sing with groups at other colleges.

Over the past few years, our Winter Break trips have taken us out of the country and away from the Northeast. In 2007, we went to Beijing, China to sing for Greenpeace International, and in 2008 we went to Puerto Rico.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary in the spring of 2011, we are still far better than any other shoe.
